Author: John DeLaurentis Acoustic Cafe is one of the finest albums Phil Keaggy has released. The master songwriter has proven he is also a master interpreter of other artists' songs. The album features relaxing and melodic versions of songs from The Beatles, Bob Dylan, Fleetwood Mac, The Beach Boys, James Taylor, Billy Joel, and others. Some highlights are Phil's rendering of the concert staple "Here Comes the Sun," the George Harrison penned classic; the appearance (finally) of Phil's own song, "You Have My Heart;" his passionate take on Billy Joel's "She's Got a Way;" and his stellar version of Dylan's "If Not for You." It is also a pleasure to hear Randy Stonehill on guitar and vocals on "In My Life;" Alicia Keaggy's smooth vocal on Cyndi Lauper's "Time after Time;" and Gene Miller's excellent vocal on "Something in the Way She Moves Me." All in all, this is a refreshing and melodious trip down memory lane of some classic love songs. A must buy for yourself or that special someone in your life.
