Author: Garrett Lewis My oh my--let the good times roll! This 2 disc collection showcases some of Phil Keaggy's best musicianship in the rock/blues genre--all performed in an improvisational format. Moreover, due to the improvisational nature of the songs on this collection, there are numerous twists and turns on these jams--many going in quite different directions than you think they will. I really like that in a jam! There are 19 jams spread out over these two cds, and some of the best ones are the extended cuts where Keaggy & Co. venture off to the realm of the spontaneous more than a few times (Jambeau--11:34, Must Be Jelly--14:31). The only throwback to this otherwise classic rock/blues album (on disc 1 anyway) are the small little brief musical nuggets such as Door Jam (0:35), Traffic Jam (1:02), and Toe Jam (0:53). It is not that they suffer musically, but that they are inconclusive and leave the listener desiring more. Ultimately though, you owe it to yourself to own this amazing collection. You WILL have fun when you listen to these discs. Believe me, I own 54 of Phil's solo & Glass Harp cds--and this one is an all out, 'let your hair down' kind of collection. All around great work! Four out of five stars!

Author: John DeLaurentis While this is not one of my all-time favorite CDs of Phil's, it still is a wonderful opportunity to enjoy some uninhibited studio jams. Through the two discs, you can tell Phil had a blast playing with the various musicians. There are moments of brilliance mixed in with some of the looooog jams. Still, I would have rather seen Phil re-release all the Backroom Trax cassettes on CD, as there are some fantastic songs like "Take Courage," etc. which I would much rather have on CD than some of the filler tracks on this release. But I will say, if you are a Keaggy completist (as I am), you need to have this CD in your collection too.
