THE
SEEING EYE (from "Inseparable")
Stardust trails in the Milky Way
Eagles fly high in the desert sky,
This I know of the seeing eye
Yet we long to see You.
And our sphere was brought to birth
By the goodness of your spoken word.
You clothe yourself in purest light.
Stretch out the heavens as a curtain.
Makes the clouds your chariot
chariot
You walk upon the wings of the wind;
Angels do your will, they do your will.
All the roads we've ever been on,
All the dreams that carry us along,
All the hopes we put into a song
Lead us back to You
Lead us back to You
But as for man his days are as the grass;
Without you, would we last?
And like a flower in the wind we shall pass.
You're the road we need to be upon,
You're the dream that carries us along,
You're the hope we put into our song,
You're the door inviting us to come and see you.
Lights of heaven your fingers traced,
Fixed to mark passage of time.
This I know of the Seeing Eye
You want us to see you.
To our souls you brought new birth
By the goodness of Your Word
Your Word.
All the roads we've ever been on,
All the dreams that carried us along,
All the hopes we put into a song;
You're the door inviting us to come;
You're the road we need to be upon,
You're the dream that carries us along,
You're the hope we put into a song,
You're the road we need to be upon,
You're the dream that carried us along.

SEND OUT YOUR LIGHT (from "Ph'lip
Side" - original release)
This
song was later replaced by "In Your Keep"
Send out Your light and truth
And let them lead me, Lord,
Send out Your light and truth
And let them lead me, Lord.
The path of the righteous is like the light of dawn
That shines brighter and brighter till the full day,
Lord, let the day come.
You did found the earth of old,
And heavens from starlight to the rain,
They shall all wear out like garments
In the end they shall all be changed.
But You remain the same.
Send out Your light and truth
And let them lead me, Lord,
Send out Your light and truth
And let them lead me, Lord,
The righteous writings on the pages
Of Your book are truth and surely
They speak the wisdom of the ages
And to see Your light is liberty
Impart Your ways to me.
Send out Your light and truth
And let them lead me, Lord,
Send out Your light and truth
And let them lead me, Lord.
The path of the righteous is like the light of dawn
That shines brighter and brighter till the full day,
Lord, let the day come.
Lead me to Your dwelling places
For where you are I truly want to be.
You are my exceeding joy,
I will play your joyful melody.
Lord, You've been good to me.

SHE CAME TO STAY (from "Play Thru
Me")
Lover and friend,
She stands by my side through it all.
She doesn't pretend to be in a hurry,
Or give into worry should the sky fall.
She's my companion,
She listens and lifts up her heart,
She knows I'm her man,
She makes my world bright,
And you know it was right
And from the very start.
See the wheels inside me turning,
She knows just what I'm thinking.
Somewhere deep inside
A yearning to hold her now.
And still it seems like yesterday
That my lady came into my live,
She came to stay.
Wife of my youth, daily my delight, I do love her.
And she loves me too, she's there to receive me,
She cares and believe me,
We are for each other.
She's my companion,
She listens and lifts up her heart,
She knows I'm her man,
She makes my world bright,
And you know it was right
And from the very start.
See the wheels inside me turning,
She knows just what I'm thinking.
Somewhere deep inside
A yearning to hold her now.
And still it seems like yesterday
That my lady came into my live,
She came to stay.

SHE'S A DANCER (from "Way Back Home"
rerelease)
She's a dancer, she loves to dance,
She's a singer, she loves to sing,
She's a lady, walking 'round in Mama's shoes.
She's amazing, she loves to amaze,
She is waiting, she don't care to wait
In a hurry, walking 'round in Mama's shoes,
Standing tall in Mama's shoes.
Growing up to discover
The things in life that ring true,
You share the name of your grandmother,
And she'll be proud to see
All the things you can do.
As you reach for the sky, love,
And pirouette 'cross the room,
Just remember that you are my love,
And no other can replace the face of you.
She's my baby, and she'll always be
With every heartbeat, such a part of me,
And she's a lady,
Walking 'round in Mama's shoes,
Standing tall in Mama's shoes.
Growing up to discover
The things in life that ring true,
You share the name of your grandmother,
And she'll be proud to see
All the things you can do.
As you reach for the sky, love,
And pirouette 'cross the room,
Just remember that you are my love,
And no other can replace the face of you.
Great is your Lord, and great is your reward,
As you grow up to face the world,
You are blessed, be a blessing my little girl.
Walking round in Mama's shoes,
Standing tall in Mama's shoes.

SHE'S A.O.K. (from "Backroom Trax 3")
She's a peach, my poocherie,
So very sweet, steady as an oak tree,
She's O.A.K., her initials read,
And she's A.O.K. with me.
She's growing up, my curly locks,
Come rain or shine we will go for walks.
She's O.A.K., her initials read,
And she's A.O.K. with me.
And when she smiles, her eyes light up,
Her dimples show,
She's just my cup of tea, you see,
And she's A.O.K. with me.
And though I play with words
I do not take for granted
Such a gift, this treasure from the Lord.
And may your years be filled with good, I pray,
And may He grace your life
Each step of the way.
She's in between, never the less,
She holds her own with her gentle kindness.
Olivia may your future be
Bright for all eternity.
And when your smiles, your eyes light up,
Your dimples show,
You're just my cup of tea, you see,
And you're A.O.K. with me.
Yes you're A.O.K. with me.

SHOUTS OF JOY (from "Crimson and
Blue")
All creation shows the glory of the Lord.
The earth proclaims His handiwork,
The sky cries out His word.
Night and day sing out, the glories all about,
So raise your voice with shouts of joy.
The King of all the earth has made His message known,
That we should offer Him ourselves and everything we own.
We do this by the way,
We live through every day,
So live each day in peace and joy.
The Kingdom of the Lord was made for all the good
For those who want to live in peace and brotherhood.
So with your fellow man
Let's all join hand to hand
And raise your voice with shouts of joy.
Let every man alive
Remember Your command
That every day in every way
We love our fellow man.
If this command is done, the victory will be won,
And we'll all live in peace and joy,
And we'll all live in peace and joy.
The Kingdom of the Lord was made for all the good
For those who want to live in peace and brotherhood.
So with your fellow man
Let's all join hand to hand
And raise your voice with shouts of joy.
Let every man alive remember Your command
That every day in every way
We love our fellow man.
If this command is done, the victory will be won,
And we'll all live in peace and joy,
And we'll all live in peace and joy.

A SIGN CAME THROUGH A WINDOW (from
"Phil Keaggy")
Let the sad eyes of the former days
Worries in the winter blow away
One of these painful stories may find a life.
Let me say it in your ear now
If you want a life and you're out of luck
How in heaven's name will you win tonight?
A sign came through a window,
Take a look, see how
I'm amazed at what you know now,
What you know now.
Paralyzed from another's cup
Got to learn in the ways of the Master
Anyway the candle is still lit.
Cause anyway you know it,
And your heart says you should
When you got it, you know you'll never
Have to knock on wood.
A sign came through a window,
Take a look, see how
I'm amazed at what you know now,
What you know now.
Have you ever wondered what's beyond
Sundays real honesty
Declarations of dependency
Confessions of an eternal struggle here.
A sign came through a window,
Take a look, see how
I'm amazed at what you know now,
What you know now.
Paralyzed from another's fall
Got to learn in the ways of the Master
Anyway the candle is still lit.
Cause anyway you know it,
And your heart says you should
When you got it, you know you'll never
Have to knock on wood.
When you got it, you know you'll never
Have to knock on wood.
When you got it, you know you'll never
Have to knock on wood.
Have you ever wondered what's beyond

SINGING SONGS TOGETHER (from
"Backroom Trax 5")
Singing songs together is fun,
Bringing hearts together makes one.
And when I'm with you I see your face,
And all of a sudden it's a different place.
Singing songs together is fun.
Joining hands we pray to the Lord,
Learning to remain in one accord.
And when we're together there's peace and joy,
That's what we want for every girl and boy.
Joining hands we pray to the Lord.
Gotta be loving, gotta be loving,
Gotta be one in the Lord.
Gotta be caring, gotta be sharing
For everyone is important.
Looking for the day He returns,
Choosing to obey what we've learned.
For His dear child I will always be
And He will never let go of me.
Looking for the day He returns.
Gotta be loving, gotta be loving,
Gotta be one in the Lord.
Gotta be caring, gotta be sharing
For everyone is important.
Singing songs together is fun.
Singing songs together is fun.
Singing songs together is fun.

SOMEBODY LOVES YOU (from "Sunday's
Child")
Hey girl, say there girl, somebody loves you,
Somebody does you know,
Somebody does you know.
Do you ever get the feeling no one understands,
Do you hurt and there's no one close at hand,
Do you ever feel like running
But you have no place to go,
Look in the mirror, does it really show
The person you want to be,
An image you long to see,
But there's a hidden person
In your heart trying to get through,
Somebody loves you, somebody does you know.
Hey boy, say there boy, somebody loves you,
Somebody does you know,
Somebody does you know.
So you say you got in trouble
When you told the truth,
You got in hot water cause you had to prove
You only wanted someone
To accept you for who you are
When you look into a mirror,
You may not see a star
But a person you want to be,
An image you long to see,
And there's a hidden person
In your heart trying to get through,
Somebody loves you, somebody does you know.
You are loved, you are loved.
Hey actor, this is a factor, somebody loves you,
Somebody does you know,
Somebody does you know.
Do you give the faint impression
You're not really you,
Your part is so convincing
You pray somebody knew
The loneliness inside is more than you can bear,
When you look into a mirror
There's really no one there
But a person you want to be,
An image you long to see,
There's a hidden person
In your heart trying to get through.
Somebody loves you, somebody does you know.
You are loved, you are loved.

SONG IN THE AIR (from "Glass Harp:
It Makes Me Glad")
Songs in the air, songs everywhere,
I like the few that brought me close to you.
Some flying by, if you blink an eye,
You may miss the tune, but it'll come back soon.
Suddenly I hear a song it carries me along,
I hear a melody, I hear a symphony,
I hear the angels sing.
Love from the sky, love from on high,
Love is the song and the music still goes on.
Suddenly I hear a song it carries me along,
I hear a melody, I hear a symphony,
I hear the angels sing.
The eyes of the Lord are upon the righteous,
His ears hear their cry and they'll never die.
And neither will this song, it'll carry on,
Belongs to the One who gave His only Son.
SONG OF HOPE (from
"Glass Harp: Synergy")
City lights, then the morning comes.
I close my eyes and I see the sun.
I know there's a field of green
Where the birds to sing, I know.
Garden walls kept the sun away from the flowers,
Prison halls where someone weeps for hours.
I know there's a smiling face,
There's a warm embrace, and there's a glow.
Walking down along the shore,
Kicking stones along the way.
Many things are still in store today.
Thinking now about the future,
I know I won't be led astray.
Cause I got hope for tomorrow, today.
Far away and yet so near.
A brighter day will soon be here,
I know there's a coming King
Who'll bring everything, I know.

SON OF MAN (from "True Believer")
I will stand in the truth
And I'll not be swayed from loving You
I'll not play in the game
And drag thru the dirt the loveliest name above all
Let me take my place, be counted among Your proclaimers
I owe You everything
And because I do these gifts I bring
To Your feet I lay down
Everything that I am, every thought every sound from my heart
As I draw my breath I sing of who You are
Son of Man
And the beggar's friend
You will take me in and heal my bleeding heart
From the start
Even now and to the end
Son of God
And the light You are
You have shined upon this dark and weary soul
And I am whole again
I will hold onto You
For I lack the strength to make it through
Take my hand precious Lord
For I understand that I can't afford my own way
Let me take my place beside You I have Your assurance
As I draw my breath I sing of who You are
Son of Man
And the beggar's friend
You will take me in and heal my bleeding heart
From the start
Even now and to the end
Son of God
And the light You are
You have shined upon this dark and weary soul
And I am whole again

SORRY (from "Emerging")
Here's a story of ten virgins
Who went out to meet the Groom.
Five of them were foolish
Though their beauty was in bloom.
They took no oil with their lamps
To see them through the night.
They thought they'd be alright and ready.
The other five were very wise
And made provision for the night
They carried extra oil
And their lamps were burning bright.
Then one by one they fell asleep,
The Bridegroom had delayed.
Then there came a messenger who said,
He is coming, His waiting bride to take,
He's coming, the choice is yours to make.
Come and greet Him, He'll soon be at the gate,
Will you meet Him before you realize that it's too late?
They all arose and trimmed their lamps,
Knowing they would soon see Him.
The foolish then discovered
That their lamps were growing dim.
Share with us your oil,
We've run out of our supply!
Then the wise would answer them and cry,
We're so sorry, there's not enough to take,
We're sorry, the choice was yours to make.
Now go hurry, He'll soon be at the gate,
Now you worry, although you knew
That it was getting late.
While they went to make the purchase,
That was when the Bridegroom came,
The ready ones went with Him
To the feast and wore His name.
The others then returned and said,
Lord let us come in too,
But He answered, I do not know you.
They were sorry, don't make the same mistake,
So sorry, the choice is yours to make.
Come and greet Him, He'll soon be at the gate.
Will you meet Him before you've realized
That it's too late?

SOUNDS (from "Getting

Sounds, I hear sounds,
And it happens every day when
I'm thinking of Your name.
In my heart when I draw near
And incline my ear to hear
Your voice, take me anywhere,
I will be Your servant, for I long
To share these sounds, I hear sounds.
Blessed are those who hear,
Blessed are those who read.
Blessed are those who observe the word of the Lord
And those who head.
And it happens every day
When I'm thinking of your name
May it please you, oh, my Lord,
And for you I will perform
These sounds. I hear sounds.
Oh, Lord, take me anywhere,
I will be Your servant, for I long
To share these sounds, I hear sounds.
And it happens every day
When I'm thinking of Your name.
In my heart when I draw near
And incline my ear to hear
And it happens every day
When I'm thinking of your name
May it please you, oh, my Lord,

SOUTHBOUND (from "Glass
Harp")
Southbound, we're on our way,
Blue skies, a sunny day.
Dream while a short delay,
We can laugh at all they say.
Speaking when there are no sounds,
Acting funny, see the clowns.
We are near the placid grounds,
While mocking the little towns.
And we have our tomorrows,
And we have our yesterdays.
A little time we wish to borrow,
To speak what we want to say.
The passing day on through the night,
Sees one through on til the light.
Mister Sun, don't shine so bright,
We haven't time to even write.

SPECIAL FRIENDS (from
"Glass Harp: Synergy")
These are my special friends,
These are my special friends,
These are my special friends,
These are my special friends.
These are my special friends,
I need these kind of friends to hold me down.
Treat me fine straight to the end,
These kind of people aren't usually found.
These are my special friends,
These are my special friends,
These are my special friends,
These are my special friends.
If you find some peace of mind,
That's when you'll know we're around.
Sing this rhyme and keep our time
Then we'll know that special friends were found.
When I'm talking to them,
They seem to understand.
Communication like this
Is truly something grand.
These are my special friends,
These are my special friends,
These are my special friends,
These are my special friends.

SPEND MY LIFE WITH
YOU (from "Ph'Lip Side")
Lay me down to rest,
Sing me a sweet lullaby,
When will I see you again?
Sleep come over me,
Can't keep from closing my eyes.
The day is gone, but you'll carry on,
Watching, protecting me into the dawn.
Then another day to spend my life with you.
Cause there's a home in my heart
And I believe the day is coming
When we'll never be apart.
Just to be where you are,
And to spend my live with you
Would be a perfect start.
See you when I rise,
Morning will bring me your song
Over and over again.
Shine Your light on me,
Wash me in resplendent love.
There is no shame with You as my aim.
Yesterday, today, forever the same.
And I only want to spend my live with you.
Cause there's a home in my heart
And I believe the day is coming
When we'll never be apart.
Just to be where you are,
And to spend my live with you
Would be a perfect start.
In your presence Lord, there I will be satisfied,
Over and over again.

SPIRIT BUS (from
"Backroom Trax 4")
There's a bus now arriving right away,
He'll be taking you up yonder right away.
And the driver of the bus is the only one
Who has the directions.
It's the Spirit Bus coming right away.
He'll be taking you to Heaven right away.
And the driver is, of course, the Lord Jesus
Who'd adore some selections.
Leave the driving up to Him
He knows the way He is,
He'll be arriving to join in
Celebration it's your Homecoming Day.
He who truly has the story is pure
Christ in You the hope of glory is pure
He began this work in you
He'll completely see you through, any questions?
There's a bus now arriving right away,
He'll be taking you up yonder right away.
And the driver of the bus is the only one
Who has the directions.
Leave the driving up to Him
He knows the way He is,
He'll be arriving to join in

STATE OF LEISURE
(unreleased demo)
Someone get a dictionary,
I don't understand what I hear.
California license plate,
Bumper sticker in your face,
Adjust the rear-view mirror.
Where have you come from, have a nice vacation,
When you leave take somebody with you.
Do you have your credit cards,
Don't leave home without them,
Or your escapade will be through.
You can have a Rand McNally, and my trip
Will let your ticket to anywhere.
Minnesota apple pie, who's not ready,
Holler I wonder if you care.
Where are you going to, have a nice vacation,
When you leave take somebody with you.
Do you have your credit cards,
Don't leave home without them,
Or your escapade will be through.
State of leisure in your holidome, state of leisure.
Gotta leave, there's no place like home,
State of leisure.
Where have you come from, have a nice vacation,
When you leave take somebody with you.
Do you have your credit cards,
Don't leave home without them,
Or your escapade will be through.
State of leisure in your holidome, state of leisure.
Gotta leave, there's no place like home, state of leisure.
Someone found a cemetery,
Can figure out how he got there
One had one too many drinks,
In control or so he thinks until he's in mid-air.
Where are you going to, have a nice vacation,
When you leave take somebody with you.
Do you have your credit cards,
Don't leave home without them,
Or your escapade will be through.
State of leisure in your holidome, state of leisure.
Gotta leave, there's no place like home,

STILL
WATERS (from "Inseparable")
By still waters running deep
I pray the Lord my soul to keep.
Through the quietness it all begins
And I hear the beating of angels' wings.
When silence speaks, I've got to listen.
The voice of peace, louder than words.
The answers I seek, reasons I'm missin'
By still waters can be heard,
By still waters can be heard.
Pushing harder all the while
But running empty mile after mile.
Watching details as the pressure mounts
And lose sight of things that really count.
When silence speaks, I've got to listen.
Voice of peace, louder than words.
The answers I seek, reasons I'm missin'
By still waters can be heard,
By still waters can be heard.
A peaceful moment is hard to find
We're all too busy, there's never time.
Taking care of business, that's what we say,
Through the noise and haste, life slips away,
Life slips away.
By still waters I will go
To find the peace I long to know.
Through the silence of love's embrace
And I find in Jesus, my resting place.
When silence speaks, I've got to listen
The Voice of peace, louder than words.
The answers I seek, reasons I'm missin'
By still waters can be heard,
By still waters can be heard.
By still waters can be heard,
By still waters can be heard.

STONE EYES (from "Crimson
and Blue")
The chisel cut the stone til the words hit home
And the prophet walked down the mountain
With the Word of God.
And the manna came down from Heaven
Like the morning snow.
Some things are hidden
From searching minds,
Some things are hidden
From those who never ask,
Some things are given, some things are given
For stone eyes, we got stone eyes,
How can we see through stone eyes?
The pencil on the page, in yet another age,
And the spirit stirred up the prophet
With the Word of God.
And the promise came down from Heaven
Like a ray of hope.
Some things are hidden
From searching minds,
Some things are hidden
From those who never ask,
Some things are given, some things are given
For stone eyes, we got stone eyes,
How can we see through stone eyes?
Doctor can you heal, doctor can you heal my,
Doctor can you heal my eyes?
Doctor can you heal, doctor can you heal my,
Doctor can you heal my eyes?
Some things are hidden
From searching minds,
Some things are hidden
From those who never ask,
Some things are given, some things are given
For stone eyes, we got stone eyes,
How can we see through stone eyes?

STRONG TOWER (from
"Find Me In These Fields")
Wrong thoughts and emotions
Have blinded the eyes of faith.
Misguided devotion kept
A pilgrim in dire straits.
Where does one go, where do you turn?
The guilt and fear depression lurks
Just beyond your back door,
Waiting for your decision you live and learn.
Deep in the valley caught
A glimpse of the morning star
If we could just reach you,
Get to know who you really are.
Where does one go, where do you turn?
There's a place, a fortress high
Just beyond your back door,
Waiting for your reception when you arrive.
The name of the Lord, run now,
Is a strong tower.
The name of the Lord, run now,
Is a strong tower.
Where you'll be safe.
Where does one go, where do you turn?
There's a place, a fortress high
Just beyond your back door,
Waiting for your reception when you arrive.
The name of the Lord, run now,
Is a strong tower.
The name of the Lord, run now,
Is a strong tower.
Where you'll be safe.

SUNDAY'S CHILD (from
"Sunday's Child")
Monday's child was feeling blue,
Tuesday's child who noticed you,
Wednesday's child was full of woe,
Thursday's child was dressed up
With no place to go.
Friday's child and Saturday
Out there running wild.
Since she's met the King of hearts
They call her Sunday's child.
Sunday's child, oh yeah.
Sunday's child, oh yeah.
Some they cry all through the night,
A few send up a wishing kite.
When the day comes to an end,
There you sit all alone feeling empty again.
Frightened by each sadder day,
So long since you smiled.
You will find no peace of mind
Til you're Sunday's child.
Sunday's child, oh yeah.
Sunday's child, oh yeah.
Every day of the week,
Every month of the year,
While time is still on your side,
Take the love that is here.
Take the love that is here.
Monday's child was feeling blue,
Tuesday's child who noticed you,
Wednesday's child was full of woe,
Thursday's child was dressed up
With no place to go.
Friday's child and Saturday
Out there running wild.
Since she's met the King of hearts
They call her Sunday's child.
Sunday's child, oh yeah.
Sunday's child, oh yeah.

SUNDAY SCHOOL (from
"Ph'Lip Side")
Give me more darkness said the blind man,
Give me more folly said the fool,
Give me stone silence said the deaf man,
I didn't believe Sunday School.
Take it away said the hungry man,
Although I'm starving I'll get by.
Take it away said the thirsty man,
I'll find a drink before I die.
I've got plenty of time to think of Heaven,
But right now there's too much on my mind.
And I've had enough of that religious stuff
And besides I can't relate to your kind.
Leave me alone said the lonely man,
Don't want to let go of this feeling.
Leave me to roam said the wanderer,
There's too many cracks in my ceilings.
I've got plenty of time to think of Heaven,
But right now there's too much on my mind.
And I've had enough of that religious stuff
And besides I can't relate to your kind.
Give me more darkness said the blind man,
Give me more folly said the fool,
Give me stone silence said the deaf man,
I didn't believe Sunday School.
I've got plenty of time to think of Heaven,
But right now there's too much on my mind.
And I've had enough of that religious stuff
And besides I can't relate to your kind.

SUNRISE (from "Getting
Closer" rerelease)
Sunrise sunrise, sunrise sunrise
Sunrise sunrise, sunrise sunrise
Hold on tight cause I want you to know.
Hold on tight cause I want you to know.
Yes I want you to know, love you can live, let live
Just a youth don't give up before your time
Don't despair, take a hold of this line.
Lift your head and your feet from the mire,
Don't give in to the Devil's desire
Cause you can fly higher.
Sunrise sunrise, sunrise sunrise
Sunrise sunrise, sunrise sunrise
Hold on tight cause I want you to know.
Hold on tight cause I want you to know.
Yes I want you to know, love you can live, let live
When you hurt, don't forget you're not alone.
Don't walk that bridge, just pick up the telephone
Ring me up, I'll be there when you call.
I understand when you say you've tried it all,
Don't be the victim of a fall.
Sunrise sunrise, sunrise sunrise
Sunrise sunrise, sunrise sunrise
Hold on tight cause I want you to know.
Hold on tight cause I want you to know.
Yes I want you to know, I want you to know
Love you can live, let live

SUNRISE TO SUNSET
(unreleased demo)
From sunrise to sunset I know my love is He
And I'm not alone.
He wakes me every morning,
He speaks so tenderly,
As our love has grown I want to please Him.
You have filled my heart with singing, hallelujah.
And within this song I'm bringing
All my love to You.
In sorrow, in sickness,
He gives me His own peace
With His outstretched hand.
And when I really see Him,
I bow down on my knees
For I've seen the man who suffered for me.
You have filled my heart with singing, hallelujah.
And within this song I'm bringing
All my love to You.
Through summer, through autumn, through winter
And through spring He is dear to me.
There is no other like my Jesus,
No other like my King,
True to Him I'll be, I want to please Him.
You have filled my heart with singing, hallelujah.
And within this song I'm bringing
All my love to You.

THE SURVIVOR (from
"Underground" and "True Believer")
I have heard the slander of many,
Terror on every side.
While they council together against me,
A scheme to take away my life.
I am small, concealed in this darkness,
Yearning to see the light, but I may never
Because of the heartless attempt
To take away my life.
But as for me, I trust in Thee,
Oh, Lord, my times are in Your hands.
You are my God, deliver me
From the solution that they have planned.
I'm condemned, completely unwanted,
I struggle to stay inside,
Oh, my dear mother, your future is haunted,
If they succeed and take away my life.
I'm cut off, exposed in this cold room,
For love and warmth I strive, will you discard me,
Throw away or starve me,
And slowly drain away my life.
But as for me, I trust in Thee,
Oh, Lord, my times are in Your hands.
You are my God, deliver me
From the solution that they have planned.
Desperate hands reach out to embrace me,
And steal away in the night,
A gentle voice is speaking assuringly,
No one will take away your life.
Now I am one apart from the millions
Fortunate to survive.
And though I bear on my body these old wounds,
They didn't take away my life.
But as for me, I trust in Thee,
Oh, Lord, my times are in Your hands.
You are my God, deliver me
From the solution that they have planned.

TAKE A LOOK AROUND (from
"Emerging")
Take a look around and see what's going down.
When everything else is falling apart
And crumbling to the ground.
There's a Kingdom emerging,
And to me that's very encouraging.
A Society where we can be
The people of God.
Take a look around, and see how man is bound.
A life full of sorrow can see no tomorrow
Unless there is peace to be found.
There's a City set on a hill, a running river
Where we can drink our fill.
A Community where we can be
The people of God.
Take a look around and listen to the sound.
A new kind of laughter we're following after
The King worthy of His crown.
And His Kingdom is emerging
And to me that's very encouraging.
A Society where we can be
The people of God.
There's a City set on a hill, a running river
Where we can drink our fill.
A Community where we can be
The people of God.

TAKE COURAGE (from
"Backroom Trax 2")
Stand up, start living,
Don't waste your youth, take courage,
Don't give in to lies, compromise,
You're gonna have to make up your mind.
It's takes guts to be different,
Don't waste your time, wake up, look, listen
And you'll realize, it's time to finally decide.
Mark down your intentions, don't be a fool,
Just thought I would mention the truth, stay alive.
You're gonna have to make up your mind.
Tough love, makes sense, it's tough enough
To get over the fence, once you do you're alright,
You've reached the other side.
Man of courage call to me,
Man of pure integrity.
Take courage.......would you sign up......
Man of courage call to me,
Man of pure integrity.
Stand up, start living,
Don't waste your youth, take courage,
Don't give in to lies, compromise,
You're gonna have to make up your mind.
Tough love, makes sense, it's tough enough
To get over the fence, once you do you're alright,

Keeping all life in tune with You.
I love You Lord.
You're the source of my life, Sweet Jesus,
Bringing forth the good fruit,
Like a branch clinging to the vine,
So I'm clinging to you.

TAKE YOU HOME (from
"Backroom Trax 4")
Off track, broken hearted.
Getting back to where we started.
Take you home, you wanna go home.
Take you home, you wanna go home.
All of your life you were looking for love,
Did it stay when you found it?
Those little games are too easy to play anymore.
Get flack, disregard it,
Look inside, you're broken hearted.
Take you home, you wanna go home.
Take you home, you wanna go home.
All of your life you were looking for love,
Did it stay when you found it?
Those little games are too easy to play anymore.
Anymore.
All of your life you were looking for love,
Did it stay when you found it?
Those little games are too easy to play anymore.
Anymore.
You still do what you wanna.
When you're ill, just who is gonna
Take you home, you wanna go home.
Take you home, you gotta get home.
Take you home, you gotta get home.
Take you home, you gotta get home.

THE TALKING OAK (unreleased
demo)
Beyond the lodge the city lies
Beneath its drift of smoke
And ah, with what delighted eyes
I turn to yonder oak
Hail hidden to the knees and fern
Broad oak of summer chase
Whose top most branches can discern
The roofs of summer place
Say thou where on I carved her name
If ever a maid or spouse
As fair as my Olivia came
To rest beneath thy bows
But tell me did she read the name
I carved with many vows
When last with throbbing heart I came
To rest beneath thy bows
Oh yes she wandered round and round
These knotted knees of mine
And found and kissed the name she found
And sweetly murmured thine
A teardrop trembled from its source
And down thy surface crept
My sense of touch is something course,
But I believe she wept
Then flushed her cheek with rosy light
She glanced across the plain
But not a creature was in sight
She kissed me once again
Her kisses were so close and kind
That trust me on my word
Hard wood I am and wrinkled rind
But yet my sap was stirred
And even in my innermost ring
A pleasure I discern
Like those blind motions of the spring
That show the year has turned

TASTE AND SEE (from
"Backroom Trax 3")
When your eyes realize
That the Son is by your side
Feel the love from above close at hand, hand
Carry on, trust the One who is able to help you
By the way, hear Him say,
Give me your hand, your hand
Taste and see
The Lord is good and kind.
Looking unto Jesus,
Leaving the past behind.
Though he falls, he shall not be
Utterly cast down
For the Lord upholds him
With His hand, His hand.
Taste and see
The Lord is good and kind.
Looking unto Jesus,
Leaving the past behind.
Looking unto Jesus
Leaving the past behind,
Leaving the past behind.

TELL ME HOW YOU FEEL
(from "Sunday's Child")
You say tomorrow,
Tonight is better for me,
You say the time isn't right,
It's better to wait.
Listen to me I'll be there looking,
Watch me I'll be looking,
I'll be there looking your way.
You've got your name up in lights,
You're feeling ok,
Listen to me I'll be there looking,
Watch me I'll be looking for you,
I'll be there looking your way.
Tell me how you feel on the inside
When the spotlight's not around.
Do you run away cause
You cannot face the crowd alone.
You say you posted tonight
A letter to me,
Listen to me I'll be there waiting,
Watching and waiting for it,
I'll be there waiting to read
Just what is written there on the inside,
It's where you let it all come out.
Will you throw away what
You cannot say because you doubt.
So let it out, let it out, so let it out.
I'll make arrangements alright,
The dinner's on me,
You say tomorrow tonight,
Or just wait and see.
Listen to me I'll be there looking,
Watch me I'll be looking,
I'll be there looking to see you
Tell me how you feel on the inside
When the lights are finally out,
Will you run away,
You won't have to face the crowd tonight.

TENDER LOVE (from "Phil
Keaggy")
It's a tender love that's gonna bring you through,
Whispering to your heart
So that you'll know what to do.
It's a tender love not about to let you go,
It's a tender love and there's
So much more to know.
Love that's holding me, tender and true,
Love that's molding me, seeing me through.
I've stood in true amazement
Of all you've done for me,
My faith so small, but you do it all,
You give it all for free.
It's a tender love that's gonna bring you through,
Whispering to your heart
So that you'll know what to do.
It's a tender love not about to let you go,
It's a tender love and there's
So much more to know.
Let go of the past, get up off the ground.
This love will last, this love I've found.
I stand in true amazement of what you do in me,
I'm in a daze, yes I'm amazed,
Embracing the change, I'm free.
It's a tender love that's gonna bring you through,
Whispering to your heart
So that you'll know what to do.
It's a tender love not about to let you go,
It's a tender love and there's
So much more to know.
It's a tender love that's gonna bring you through,
Whispering to your heart
So that you'll know what to do.
It's a tender love not about to let you go,
It's a tender love and there's
So much more to know.

THAT IS WHAT THE LORD WILL DO FOR
YOU (from "What A Day")
Winter's here, autumn's gone
Leaves have fallen.
It's the season before the dawn,
Spring is calling.
And as winter comes to an end,
Spring brings life again.
Born again, given life anew
That is what the Lord will do for you.
Just in case you haven't heard
In the beginning was the Word
And the Word was with God
And the Word was God.
He gives life to all mankind,
He gives sight to the blind.
Able to see, able to start anew
Life and that is what He'll give to you
And it's free.
All you have to do is believe
That He loves you
Died for you, is ever more alive for you.
There is something about the wind
And how it blows.
Where it's coming from and where it goes.
There's no doubt when you hear it
There's no doubt when you're born of the Spirit.
Born again, given new life anew,
That is what the Lord will do for you.

THINGS I WILL DO (from
"Love Broke Thru")
Last night I asked my Heavenly Father
About the way I should go.
I said, Lord I can't see Your path before me,
All I can see is rocky road.
So take me through.
And He spoke to me these
Words of simple truth.
And I will lead the blind
By the way they do not know
In paths they do not know I will guide them.
I will make darkness into light before them
And rugged places into plains.
These are the things I will do, I will do, I will do
And I will not leave them undone.
These are the things I will do, I will do, I will do
And I will not leave them undone.
Well I'm only one, of countless thousands
Who have walked upon pilgrim's way.
And whenever I thirst,
I'll seek my Lord first
And listen to what He will say.
Lord, let me hear You, and He spoke to me
These words of simple truth,
Behold I will do something new,
Now it will spring forth,
And you will not be aware of it.
I will even make a roadway in the wilderness,
And rivers in the desert.
These are the things I will do, I will do, I will do
And I will not leave them undone.
These are the things I will do, I will do, I will do
And I will not leave them undone.

THINK ABOUT IT (from
"Underground")
What kind of life could you live
If you couldn't live it right?
No, don't tell me now, think about it tonight.
What's in the cup, could you give
If you couldn't give it up?
Oh, don't tell me now, think about it tonight.
Think about it, think about it
Think about it, think about it
What kind of dreams could you have
If they're only little schemes?
No, don't tell me now, dream about it tonight.
What will you gain
If you win the world and you go insane?
Oh, don't tell me now, but think about a real life.
Think about it, think about it
Think about it, think about it
Live to see your dreams fulfilled,
Give receive it's your free will.
Just believe and peace be still,
You'll be free but not until
You think about it, you think about it.
Where will you run
When you feel the dark and you come undone?
No, don't tell me now, think about it tonight.
What kind of life could you live
If you couldn't live it right?
No, don't tell me now, think about it tonight.
Think about it, think about it
Think about it, think about it

THIS COULD BE THE
MOMENT (from "Sunday's Child")
Driving through the night rain,
And another hall to play.
Supporting this month's disciples
With important things to say.
The DJ's bored, the kids have scored,
The heavies prowl the place.
The sound check's done, you start your run
To the ten heads in this place.
This could be the moment,
This could be the moment,
This could be the moment
You've been waiting for,
You've been heading for,
You've been waiting for,
This could be.
Driving through the night streets
On a brand new set of wheels.
The radio's low, she's talking slow,
Telling you how she feels.
She's in a dream, she hears a scream,
She no longer has control.
Her heart's been hurt, her life won't work,
The play is for her soul.
This could be the moment,
This could be the moment,
This could be the moment
You've been waiting for,
You've been heading for,
You've been waiting for,
This could be.

THIS SIDE OF HEAVEN
(from "Find Me In These Fields")
I've made up my mind, it's been a long time.
I've got a dream of my own.
Why settle for less here at the wrong time.
There are better worlds yet to come.
Let it come.
Met a lot of people in my day.
They say your dream will fade away.
I've made up my mind to wait for You now,
I don't know the time, don't know the place.
But when I say
Please don't keep us waiting too long,
We've no lasting city this side of Heaven.
Please don't keep us waiting too long,
Cause things aren't looking to pretty
This side of Heaven.
I've seen the bright side of day,
And I've felt the dark side of night.
I choose the day.
Please don't keep us waiting too long,
We've no lasting city this side of Heaven.
Please don't keep us waiting too long,
Cause things aren't looking to pretty
This side of Heaven.

TIME (from "Love Broke
Thru")
Well He hasn't always been around
And He won't always be.
But He's on the move at this moment
Measuring life for you and me.
I fear we all submit to him
Existing anxiously,
And no one is able to turn him off
Except the Lord who holds the key.
When the Lord stops him, that'll be it,
Too late for apologies.
Too late to forgive your brother,
Too late to get on your knees.
When the Lord stops him, that'll be it,
Too late to help the needy
And worst of all it's too late to turn
You must face eternity.
His name is Time and he's coming to an end.
His name is Time where will you be my friend?
His name is Time and he's coming to an end.
His name is Time where will you be my friend?
Most people think he'll never stop
He'll go on perpetually,
But old man time is running out
And he'll cease eventually.
When the Lord stops him, that'll be it,
Too late for apologies.
Too late to forgive your brother,
Too late to get on your knees.
When the Lord stops him, that'll be it,
Too late to help the needy
And worst of all it's too late to turn
You must face eternity.

A TIME AND A PLACE (from
"What A Day")
There is a time and a place for everything
This is the time, this is the place
And we can sing songs and play guitar
And shoot the breeze,
And we can talk about the human race
After all we are part of it all.
Have you considered the sparrows up above?
They do not sew, they do not reap.
And yet your Heavenly Father feeds them,
And His love for you is much more deep.
After all you are part of it all.
Said the robin to the sparrow,
I would really like to know
Why these anxious human beings
Rush about and worry so.
Said the sparrow to the robin,
Friend, I think that it must be
That they have no Heavenly Father
Such as cares for you and me.
Have you considered the sparrows up above?
They do not sew, they do not reap.
And yet your Heavenly Father feeds them,
And His love for you is much more deep.
After all you are part of it all.
There is a time and a place for everything
This is the time, this is the place.
This is the time and the place for Jesus
Cause Jesus is everything to me.

TOO MUCH GREEN (from
"Uncle Duke")
Fourteen hours of too much green
Racking the balls til it brings out the sheen
Such a long time to waste playing pool
Fourteen hours of being the fool
The leather creaked as the nine-ball dropped
Ending all hope for a comeback pop
Fourteen hours of chalk-up and play
Nothing to show except the light of day
A sigh of relief as I broke my cue
This day at last was long overdue
As I laid out the bills on the mahogany rail
The money was crumbled and the green looked pale
Well, look at this, I didn't lose it all
There's two bucks left for a power ball
My hands were shaking from cramps and fatigue
I'm playing a loser that's not in my league
Yes, that's the price when you're past your prime
When age catches up and slows the mind
Little things creep in about a sordid past
Your stroke has a glitch, confidence can't last
But you keep on going, 'cause that's all you know
Keeping it together for the one big show
You look for the big one, the easy run
The Charlie Tuna who gambles for fun
Fourteen hours of hill-hill play
When the word gets out I know what they'll say:
"The Duke lost his roll to a Farmer John,
He couldn't make it until the break of dawn."
I rattled the keys to my Chevy truck
Headed for the door muttering, "Just dumb luck"
But I knew in my heart that the Duke was through
Gone was the Duke with the velvet cue
Well, maybe it's time for a turn in the road
Someone once said you're never too old
Fourteen hours of competitive play
Can I find someone to show me the way?
I walked past the truck and straight up the street
Slowed when a stranger said, "Duke, you look beat."
I know a spot where we can rest a spell
It's a quiet place where they don't raise no hell
We stopped at a storefront with a dark green door
Flourescent lights and an old wood floor
Folding chairs, a table or two
A handful of people, no one I knew
Pete poured me a coffee and pulled out a chair
"Sit here, Duke, and try not to stare
These are all folks who have lost their way
Some come and go, some come and stay
"It's a private place, won't ask you you're name
Give it a rest, don't replay the game
Let your mind flow free, there's no crystal ball
Maybe say a short prayer, but give it your all"
He picked up a guitar and started to play
A song about Jesus lighting the way
As the words rang clear, I started to cry
My hands gripped the table, and I let out a sigh
Fourteen hours of cat-and-mouse pool
Wasting my life playing the fool
Here is my answer, clear as a bell
Here's my escape from this living hell
Pete sang his ballad in a soft quiet voice
The first time in my life I have a real choice
To give up the green, start a brand new life
Go home to my family, go home to my wife
Pete witnessed the change, and stopped his song
"There's one thing left, Duke, and it won't take long
Just bow your head and repeat after me
I accept you as my Savior, Jesus set me free"
Fourteen hours of doubt-ridden pool
The words gushed out, and I felt like a fool
But my heart felt light, felt free as a bird
And I just didn't care if I was heard
Saying, "Thank you, Lord, for letting me play"
A race to nine and I'll spot you the seven
I'll bet you my life if you get me to heaven
A race to nine and I'll spot you the seven
I'll bet you my life if you get me to heaven
A race to nine and I'll spot you the seven
I'll bet you my life if you get me to heaven

TOTALLY YOURS (from
"Backroom Trax 4")
Yesterday I called you mine.
Was I wrong, I thought things
Could have worked out fine.
Oh baby now, was I blind and so out of touch,
All along maybe I didn't care enough.
But if you let me now I will prove to you
I've had a change of heart and
I'll do anything for your love,
Anything for your love,
So won't you take me back for your own.
Miss your ways, the sound of your voice
When you'd speak and the look
There upon your face
Oh baby now, once you've seen
The change in me
You'll come home cause
You know that we're meant to be
Cause if you let me now I will prove to you
I've had a change of heart and
I'll do anything for your love,
Anything for your love,
So won't you take me back for your own.
Totally yours I'm staying,
You know I'm totally yours alone.
Totally yours I'm staying, for your own.
Yesterday I called you mine.
Was I wrong, I thought things
Could have worked out fine.
Oh baby now, was I blind and so out of touch,
All along it's true I didn't care enough.
But if you let me now I will prove to you

TOWN TO TOWN (from "Town
to Town")
I'm living out of a suitcase,
I'm moving on with a band from town to town.
It's about fourteen more cities,
Then I'm homeward bound.
And everyday it's a new place,
And yet I feel that I've been here once before.
Come with me, we'll look around once more.
You didn't say it was easy,
For now and then I must leave my family home,
There's an ache deep down inside me
When I'm all alone.
And then you're there to remind me
That everything is working as it should,
Comforting your very own.
You're so good, you're so good.

TRAIN TO GLORY (from
"Play Thru Me")
Do you see that train coming,
Hey, it's coming into view,
Now listen friend, don't you be late,
I wanna ride with you.
Gonna take that train to Glory,
And just in case it comes by night,
Get some of that spirit oil,
Make sure your lamp is shining bright,
Shining bright.
Nothing of the like has fully been told,
Nor entered into the heart of man,
No eye has seen, no ear has heard
The things He has prepared
For those who love Him, for those who love Him.
He's coming in a blaze of glory,
He's gonna split the eastern skies,
And I got that ticket for that Train to Glory,
Cause Jesus paid the price.
Nothing of the like has fully been told,
Nor entered into the heart of man,
No eye has seen, no ear has heard
The things He has prepared
For those who love Him, for those who love Him.

THE TRUE BELIEVERS (from
"True Believer")
Just don't know where, where to begin
When earthly kings surrender to this world of sin.
To walk the walk, talk the talk, truth is
Heaven on earth is one stairway
That can't be bought.
The price is paid, we believe that our God reigns,
The true believers stand on every word You say,
The true believers made alive in Christ today,
This is how we survive and where we mean to stay.
The true believers.
You've had enough, all you can take
When your river of tears
Runs into an ocean of heartbreak.
He'll be your moon when your sun goes down,
Fire for you if ice is all that's on your ground.
When your music has died,
And silence is the sound,
The true believers stand on every word You say,
The true believers made alive in Christ today,
This is how we survive and where we mean to stay.
The true believers.
So if you need to call on a friend,
He's there for you right until the very end,
His love is alive forever and amen.
The true believers stand on every word You say,
The true believers made alive in Christ today,
This is how we survive and where we mean to stay.
The true believers.

TURNED ON THE LIGHT
(from "Emerging")
With some golden yarn she went a-spinnin'
Off to sow her oats with another face.
The time had come and she was tired of sinnin',
And the guilt weighed heavy
So she sought out for some grace.
With an empty heart he went a-searchin
Looking for some shoes that wouldn't wear out.
His world became so rocky and he was a-hurtin
And how often he wondered
What this life was all about.
What's it all about?
What's it all about?
I gotta know,
Can you tell me what it's all about?
With some silver line, they went a-fishin,
Waiting round for years to catch a bite.
They cried in desperation for some vision,
And right away Someone came
And He just turned on the light.
Just turned on the light,
Just turned on the light.
Now we can see clearly cause
He just turned on the light.
Just turned on the light,
Just turned on the light.
Now we can see clearly cause
He just turned on the light.
Like a shepherd He'll forever lead us.
Bring us safely through,
Bring us safely through the night.
Whenever we are bound, He'll come free us,
And we need not worry,
He assures us it's alright.
Everything's alright,
Everything's alright,
No need to worry children,
Cause everything's alright.

THE TWO OF YOU (from
"Underground")
Because you love him, because you love her,
An ever flowing stream of light
Comes from the one
Who made you right for each other.
He knew of you when, He knew of you then,
When nothing was around to see,
No star above no earth beneath to discover.
The two of you kept in Him, blessed in Him,
Blessed in him, for what God has joined together
Let nothing separate.
The two of you met in Him, now rest in Him
Rest in Him, for when Jesus is the center
Nothing can penetrate.
Will you live for him, will you live for her,
Together you can stand when all around you
Falls down to the ground and shatters.
May your faith be strong, set your eyes upon
The everlasting King of Grace,
You've come as one
To seek the face of the Father.
The two of you kept in Him, blessed in Him,
Blessed in him, for what God has joined together
Let nothing separate.
The two of you met in Him, now rest in Him
Rest in Him, for when Jesus is the center
Nothing can penetrate.
Because you love him, because you love her,
An ever flowing stream of light
Comes from the one
Who made you right for each other.
And let your light shine on,
The darkness will be gone,
For you have made a covenant, now walk in it,
Sweet Carolyn and John, the two of you.
